Thank you to all who applied. Applications are now closed.

Harvest Fair
Saturday Sept. 10th, 4pm-7:30pm

The Harvest Fair marks the beginning of the Moon Festival. It is a family-friendly event at Slocan Park where attendees can play games, make crafts, and enjoy performances by local musicians and performers. Featured is the popular Harvest Fair vegetable competition, which brings neighbours together in celebrating their best homegrown produce.

We hope to see the fair activated and animated with an array of performers! Are you a musician, dance group, stilt walker, clown, balloon artist, puppeteer, or any other kind of performer that is excited to show your talents and celebrate the harvest bounty with us? We’d love to hear from you!

Notes:

We are looking for five musical groups, one to three dance groups, and one to two interactive performers (i.e. clowns, face painter).

We will have a modest stage set-up that will allow up to four microphones. If you have complex tech needs, please indicate so in your application and we will contact you to discuss options.

Our festival takes place rain or shine.

Fees / Compensation

Musicians and performers part of community groups developing skills or new performers will receive an honoraria. Emerging and professional artists will be compensated based on number of performers, set duration, and experience.

Performance times will range from 15-45 minutes each.

Application Deadline: May 31st, 2022

Still Moon’s vision and stewardship work are focused on the Renfrew-Collingwood community; however, we encourage applicants from all backgrounds, regardless of location, to apply. It is important to us to reflect the diversity of our neighborhood and encourage newcomers, persons with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQAI2s+ and BIPOC communities to apply.

Streamside Lantern Installation
Saturday Sept. 17th, All Day (2pm-11pm)

The Streamside Lantern Installation is the magical heart of the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival. This evening spectacle welcomes guests to walk through a beautifully transformed Renfrew Ravine, filled with lights, giant lanterns, illuminated art, accompanied by relaxing music—sonifying the space.

We are accepting proposals for illuminated art installations, including lantern art, electronic art, eco-art, or land art. For instance, through materiality: up-cycled, repurposed, ethically sourced materials. Conceptually: resurfacing the lost streams or resurfacing connections after a distanced couple of years.

We can’t wait to hear from you and see how you interpret this year’s theme (resurfacing)!

Criteria:

  • Artwork must be visible and visually appealing in the dark.
  • The majority of artwork should be able to operate without power, or with low battery power. There may be an opportunity for generator support.
  • If you want to use candles, please discuss with us your proposal to work together in meeting regulations around open flame.
  • We encourage artists to consider using natural and/or sustainable materials for installations.
  • Our festival takes place rain or shine – make sure your artwork can handle it!

Schedule:

  • We will host a Site Walk for selected artists on Tuesday, June 14th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM for artists to envision the potential of the space and for the Festival Team to determine the best site for artists’ work
  • We will provide a one day lantern making workshop in the summer, led by a professional lantern artist for selected artists.
  • Artists need to be available on September 17th all day to install, supervise, and take down your installation (2pm – 11pm).

Fees / Compensation

Participating artists will be paid based on idea, size, scope of installation (is it new work or existing work), and experience (i.e. are you an emerging or professional artist).

Emerging artists can anticipate a minimum of $175 up to $250.

Established artists can anticipate $325 with the possibility of up to $500 for exceptional works.
