Celebrating our Mothers: Spring Bundle Dye Workshop

May 6, 2021 | Events, News, Workshops

Tuesday, May 25th, 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm @ Slocan Fieldhouse

Mothers often want to spend more time with their grown children. Give your mom the gift of a mother/child bundle dye class and learn together this Mother’s Day month.

In this class, we will work with locally harvested plants and spring flowers to explore bundle dyeing. Bundle dyeing is a natural dyeing method where flora and other elements are pressed between layers of fabric and treated in a steam bath to transfer the colour of the elements onto the fabric. You will learn about how and when to collect plant materials, experiment with mordanting, and learn how to make a beautiful bundle dye product all while spending quality time with your mother/child. Materials will be provided and you will take home the work you make. You will also be given worksheets and resources to continue your dye exploration at home. All skill levels are welcome.

This course has been subsidized as a gift from Still Moon Arts Society, to the community. Please note that we will not be able to charge such a reduced price in all our future dye workshops, but we hope to make this one accessible to as many mother/child pairs as we can accommodate.

Tickets are $45/each, $ 90/2 people.

Other Info:

A non-medical mask is required to attend the class. We will have hand sanitizer available on site, and practice physical distancing in accordance with the BC Health regulations to ensure the safety of all attendees. Please wash your hands before you arrive and after you leave. The class will take place outside under a covered area at the Alder Eco-Arts Hub (2750 East 29th Avenue) by Slocan Park and the 29th Avenue Skytrain Station (unless changed due to weather or health regulations).

Workshop Fee:

As is a non-profit organization, Still Moon Arts charges based on the part of the work that we offer. With that in mind, we will not exclude people due to unaffordability or cost. We will offer a sliding scale for participants who are unable to absorb the full cost of the workshop. Please contact us if this is the case and we can discuss what is reasonable for you. We greatly appreciate these funds that go towards supporting this program and furthering non-cost programs that Still Moon Arts runs.

Refund Policy:

If you would like to cancel your attendance at an upcoming class, we will offer you a refund, provided that you inform us at least one day prior to the scheduled workshop. Please note that the Eventbrite processing fee is non-refundable, and we do not have control over this part of the fee.

If you have any questions, please contact Eco-Arts Programs Manager, Varsha Gill at varsha@stillmoonarts.ca.
