CLOSED | Call Out for Consciousness of Streams Finale Performers

Still Moon Arts Society is celebrating the 21st Annual Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival in 2023, a free community arts and sustainability festival celebrating the changing seasons, diverse cultural traditions and the harvest moon.

We are looking for performers to be part of this year’s Consciousness of Streams project, culminating in a stand-alone finale performance that closes the Moon Festival on September 29th, 2023, in Renfrew Ravine and Renfrew Community Park.

Consciousness of Streams is a three year project which follows the lost streams buried under streets of the Renfrew Collingwood neighbourhood with a procession of dancers, stilt walkers, and lanterns. In year one we explored the theme of streams, in year two we will explore the theme of the moon and the water.

Please consider joining us in exploring the “vastness of the dewdrop and realizing the limitlessness of the moonlight in the sky.”
Here is documentation of CoS’s year one performance by Wilson Mendes.

Professional movement artist and stilt walker Isabelle Kirouac will host workshop series: Movement, Stilt Walking, and Children’s, to provide finale participants/performers with the skills and techniques they need to embrace their inner performer and movement potential fully.

                          Questions for you

                          Are you a natural entertainer?

Do you love costume, movement and expression?

Do you want to learn how to express yourself creatively through movement?

If so, this series might be right for you and now is your chance to get involved!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Participants should only register if they want to perform in the 21st Annual Moon Festival on September 29th, 2023. Rehearsals for the finale will take place in September; Performers must be available for 8-9 rehearsals. Rehearsal dates will be confirmed upon successful application.
  • An honourarium of $75 will be provided to performers for their participation in the finale performance during the Moon Festival (this is not the case if participants are only present for the workshops).
  • We understand if a few rehearsals are missed due to personal circumstances, but preferences will be given to those that can attend all rehearsals.
  • The children’s workshop is in June 2023, and registration for that will occur in May 2023.
  • It is possible for participants to also attend both Workshops, though preference will be given to those who have not attended a workshop series before.
Please fill out BOTH Workshop form if you are interested in both workshops.
