Still Creek Stories

What Comes to Light; Stories of Still Creek Lost and Found (2017)

Still Creek Stories, encapsulated as a book titled “What Comes to Light; Stories of Still Creek Lost and Found”, was independently published in 2017 by Still Moon Arts Society and edited by Carmen Rosen, with assistance from Kaitlyn Fung and Bea Miller. The book is a collection of community stories, art, and history relating to Still Creek, Renfrew Ravine, and the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood. From childhood memories in the creek to the celebrated return of the salmon to our waterways, the book features stories that were forgotten, unheard of, or lost, and explores how they were rediscovered within a blossoming and creative community.

You can purchase the book on our online store.

Still Creek Stories Performances

In July 2016, we invited youth performers to share two days to learn interdisciplinary techniques and express their creativity under the mentorship of artist/vocalist Carmen Rosen, director/choreographer Isabelle Kirouac, and singer/dancer Laura Crema. The performances were a way to animate the community-inspired stories through dance, poetry, music, vocal body, theatre, and ephemeral art.

The Still Creek Stories project and performances were made possible by funding from the BC Arts Council, Canada Council, the support of Still Creek Press, and generous community members, all of whom have our deepest thanks for contributing their time to this project.
