September 25 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

On September 25th, join us at the Colour Me Local Dye Garden for an evening of relaxing music and knowledge-sharing about dye plants.

The event will feature an acoustic performance on the Guzheng performed by Vi An. Around the garden, we will be displaying samples of past dye projects, as well as having a demonstration to show the natural dye process using the garden’s plants. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the autumn beauty of the dye garden.

The Colour Me Local Dye Garden was installed by Still Moon Arts and the community in April 2019 as part of the Alder Eco-Arts Hub residency at Slocan Park Fieldhouse. The garden supports pollinators, natural dye programs, and medicinal plant programs with Resurfacing History.

The garden has plants that can be used to create a range of vibrant colours for dying natural materials such as cotton, linen, wool, and silk. Different parts of these plants can be used to create dyes, including roots, stems, bark, leaves, flowers and fruits.

This event is part of our larger series of events and workshops happening during the month of the Moon Festival. If you cannot get enough of the ethereal music in nature from the Moon Festival, then this is definitely an evening you will want to book off!
